Vignan University in Vadlamudi is set to take a major step toward industry-focused education with the launch of a Google AI Lab on June 3. Developed in collaboration with Google Cloud, the new facility aims to provide students with hands-on experience in artificial intelligence, cloud computing, machine learning, and data analytics.
The initiative is designed to bridge the gap between classroom learning and industry requirements, helping students build skills that are increasingly in demand across the technology sector.
Vignan Educational Institutions's Sri Krishnadevarayalu, Vice-Chairman and Member of Parliament Lavu , described the project as a significant milestone for the university. According to him, the AI lab will give students direct exposure to globally recognized technologies and industry practices, preparing them for careers in the rapidly evolving digital economy. "This initiative aligns with Vignan’s vision of building a future-ready workforce capable of leading innovation-driven enterprises and startups," he said.
The university sees the lab as more than just a training center. It is expected to serve as a platform for innovation, research, entrepreneurship, and skill development. Students will be able to work on practical projects while gaining experience with technologies used by leading companies around the world.
Vice-Chancellor Prof. K.V. Krishna Kishore said the facility will focus on practical learning and career readiness. Through specialized training programs, students will develop expertise in key technology areas that are shaping the future of industries globally.
The collaboration with Google Cloud will provide access to a range of advanced tools and resources. Students will be able to explore Google's artificial intelligence ecosystem, including popular platforms such as Gemini and NotebookLM. These tools are expected to help learners understand real-world applications of generative AI and cloud-based technologies.
The program will also include several experiential learning opportunities. Students will participate in hackathons, project-based learning initiatives, mentorship sessions, and problem-solving challenges inspired by real industry scenarios. Such activities are expected to strengthen technical skills while encouraging creativity and innovation.
In addition, students will gain access to Google Digital Campus resources and Skills Boost learning modules. These platforms offer specialized training pathways that can help learners stay updated with emerging technologies and industry trends.
