In a major boost for India-UK education collaboration, the Hinduja Foundation and King's College London have announced a new round of prestigious scholarships aimed at helping Indian students pursue advanced studies in healthcare innovation and biomedical technology in the United Kingdom. The initiative reflects the growing partnership between India and the UK in the fields of higher education, medical technology, and healthcare research, while also creating opportunities for talented Indian students to gain access to world-class academic and research facilities.
The scholarships are part of a long-term strategic partnership established two years ago between the philanthropic arm of the Hinduja Group and one of the UK’s leading research universities. The collaboration focuses on strengthening healthcare systems through education, innovation, and cutting-edge research while preparing the next generation of healthcare leaders and biomedical innovators. The latest scholarship round is specifically designed for students domiciled in India who wish to pursue either full-time PhD programs or specialized master’s studies in healthcare technology and entrepreneurship.
Under the program, Indian students can apply for fully funded four-year PhD studentships in Healthcare Technologies at the School of Biomedical Engineering and Imaging Sciences at King's College London. Scholarships are also available for the university’s highly regarded one-year MSc MedTech Innovation and Entrepreneurship program, which combines healthcare, innovation, and business training to prepare students for leadership roles in the rapidly evolving global healthcare sector.
Speaking about the initiative, Ashok Hinduja, Chairman of the Hinduja Foundation, emphasized the organization’s commitment to building future-ready healthcare talent. He noted that the partnership aligns with the vision of a 'Viksit Bharat', or developed India, by helping students gain international expertise while strengthening India’s healthcare ecosystem. According to him, empowering Indian students with access to global knowledge and advanced medical research will ultimately contribute to better healthcare outcomes not only in India but across the world.
The scholarship program has already started showing promising results. Three PhD scholars and two MSc scholars began their studies at King's College London in October last year, while another PhD candidate joined in February 2026. For the upcoming 2026-2027 academic year, applications are now open for four PhD scholarships and five MSc scholarships, with courses scheduled to begin in October 2026.

According to the university, the Hinduja Scholarship offers significant financial support for Indian students enrolled in the MSc MedTech Innovation and Entrepreneurship program. One scholarship provides full or near-full tuition support, while additional scholarships cover up to 80 percent and 50 percent of international tuition fees. This financial assistance is expected to reduce barriers for talented students seeking quality international education in healthcare innovation.
University officials highlighted that the partnership extends beyond scholarships and includes broader initiatives such as the Hinduja-King’s Health Partners Academy, which focuses on advancing healthcare education, clinical training, and biomedical research. The collaboration aims to foster innovation-driven learning and provide students with exposure to real-world healthcare environments, advanced technologies, and interdisciplinary research opportunities.
The announcement also highlights the increasing importance of global healthcare education, especially as countries invest heavily in medical technology, digital health, and biomedical engineering.
