The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has scheduled Round 1 registration for NEET PG 2026 counselling from October 12 to October 21, opening the next stage of postgraduate medical admissions for eligible candidates. The process will facilitate admissions to designated postgraduate medical seats, including 50% of the All India Quota seats and seats in participating institutions covered by MCC counselling.
Candidates who have qualified for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for Postgraduate (NEET PG) 2026 should review the official counselling schedule and prepare the necessary information before completing registration. The schedule covers registration, fee payment, choice filling, seat allotment and reporting to allotted institutions.
Round 1 Counselling Dates
According to the published schedule, registration and fee payment are scheduled from October 12 to October 21. The registration window closes at noon on October 21, while the payment facility remains available until 3 p.m. on the same day.
Choice filling is scheduled to begin on October 13 and continue until October 22. The choice-locking window runs from October 21 to October 22. MCC has scheduled seat allotment processing for October 22 and 23, with the Round 1 result expected on October 24.
Candidates allotted seats will be required to complete reporting and joining formalities between October 26 and November 2, 2026. Applicants should check the official MCC portal for any revisions to the schedule and follow the deadlines specified in the latest notification.
Registration and Choice Filling
Candidates should access the official MCC PG Medical Counselling portal to locate the registration facility. They must enter the requested examination and personal details, complete the online registration process and pay the applicable counselling fee.
Once choice filling opens, applicants can select their preferred colleges and courses according to their eligibility, NEET PG rank and admission preferences. Candidates should carefully assess course availability, college fees, service bonds and other applicable conditions before locking their choices.
The allotment process depends on factors including candidate rank, preferences, eligibility and seat availability. Completing registration does not guarantee a seat, and candidates must comply with the counselling rules to remain eligible for admission.
Government Emphasises Candidate Support
The importance of transparent and student-friendly medical counselling has also been highlighted by the Union Health Ministry.
“Ensure Every Proactive Measure is Taken to Address Candidates' Concerns.” - Shri Jagat Prakash Nadda, Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare, Government of India.
The statement was issued during a government review of NEET UG counselling preparedness in July 2026. Although it concerns undergraduate rather than postgraduate counselling, it highlights the government's emphasis on candidate support, transparency and the timely resolution of admission-related concerns.
What Candidates Should Check
NEET PG applicants should keep their examination credentials and required admission documents ready, verify the applicable counselling fees and monitor official notices throughout the process. They should also ensure that their college preferences are accurate before locking choices, as changes may not be permitted after the specified deadline.
Candidates can access the schedule, notices and registration updates through the official MCC PG Medical Counselling portal. Checking the latest official instructions will help applicants avoid missed deadlines and complete the counselling process correctly.
