ISA Partners with IIT Delhi to Boost Global Clean Energy Skills
  • ISA partners with IIT Delhi to boost global clean energy skills through advanced educational programs.
  • The collaboration aims to address the growing demand for skilled professionals in renewable energy technologies.
  • Programs will cover solar energy, energy efficiency, storage solutions, and leadership development, benefiting participants worldwide.

The International Solar Alliance (ISA) has partnered with the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi to enhance global clean energy skills. This collaboration, aimed at building a pool of highly skilled professionals in the renewable energy sector, was announced in January 2026. The partnership is poised to offer advanced educational programs and training initiatives that will help address the growing demand for clean energy professionals across the world.

The alliance between ISA and IIT Delhi is a strategic move to strengthen the global workforce in the renewable energy sector, which is becoming increasingly critical as countries work towards achieving their climate goals. As clean energy technologies evolve and the world shifts towards sustainable energy sources, there is an urgent need for skilled workers who can design, implement, and manage these technologies. Through this partnership, ISA and IIT Delhi aim to meet this demand by providing world-class training and skill development opportunities to professionals from across the globe.

Dr Ajay Mathur, Director General of the International Solar Alliance, expressed his excitement about the partnership, saying, "This collaboration with IIT Delhi represents a significant step towards achieving our vision of making solar energy accessible to all. We are committed to building a global clean energy workforce that can help accelerate the transition to sustainable energy systems worldwide".

The partnership will focus on creating cutting-edge academic and training programs that cover a wide range of subjects, including solar energy technologies, energy efficiency, storage solutions, and grid integration. These programs will be designed to equip participants with the skills and knowledge required to lead projects and drive innovations in the renewable energy space. In addition to these technical skills, the programs will also emphasize leadership development and project management, which are essential for driving large-scale clean energy initiatives.

IIT Delhi, one of India’s premier institutions for technology and innovation, will bring its extensive expertise in engineering and research to the partnership. Professor V. Ramgopal Rao, Director of IIT Delhi, commented, "Our collaboration with the ISA aligns perfectly with IIT Delhi’s commitment to promoting sustainable development through innovation. We believe that this partnership will not only help us contribute to global clean energy efforts but also position IIT Delhi as a global leader in renewable energy education".

The programs are expected to attract participants from both developed and developing nations, enabling a diverse cohort of students and professionals to gain access to the latest knowledge and training in clean energy. The training will be delivered through a combination of online courses, workshops, and on-site training programs, ensuring that participants from various parts of the world can benefit from this collaboration.

This initiative also comes at a time when clean energy is rapidly gaining traction worldwide. Governments, businesses, and organizations are increasingly focusing on renewable energy as a means to reduce carbon emissions and combat climate change. However, the transition to clean energy is not without its challenges, particularly in terms of having the necessary skilled workforce to implement and manage renewable energy solutions at scale. The ISA and IIT Delhi partnership is expected to play a crucial role in addressing this gap by providing high-quality education and training that prepares individuals to meet the challenges and opportunities of the clean energy revolution.

By building a highly skilled workforce, the partnership aims to help accelerate the global transition to clean energy, creating jobs, fostering innovation, and promoting sustainable development. As the world increasingly turns to renewable energy, initiatives like this one will be key to ensuring that the necessary talent and expertise are in place to drive this transformation forward.

Through their collaboration, the International Solar Alliance and IIT Delhi are laying the foundation for a more sustainable future, helping to develop the next generation of clean energy leaders and experts who will shape the global energy landscape for years to come.
