Jharkhand CM Promotes Higher Education through Student Credit Scheme

Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren has called on young people to focus on higher and technical education, saying it is essential for building a stronger and more developed state. He made the appeal while interacting with students and beneficiaries of the Guruji Student Credit Card (GSCC) scheme in Ranchi.

The interaction took place on the 82nd birth anniversary of his late father and Jharkhand Mukti Morcha founder Shibu Soren. The chief minister said his father and many others worked for years to achieve statehood for Jharkhand despite facing several challenges. He said the next responsibility lies with the current generation to take the state forward.

Soren stressed that Jharkhand’s progress depends on education reaching every village. He said many young people in the state are talented but remain behind due to a lack of opportunities and resources. As a result, many are forced to migrate to other states in search of work, often leaving their education incomplete.

To address this issue, the chief minister highlighted the GSCC scheme, launched in 2024. The program provides education loans of up to Rs 15 lakh at a low interest rate of 4 percent, without requiring any collateral. The scheme aims to ensure that financial constraints do not stop deserving students from pursuing higher studies.

Soren urged students to fully use the scheme to gain skills, knowledge, and technical expertise. He said educated youth can help reduce migration, create local opportunities, and strengthen Jharkhand’s economy.

The chief minister added that education is not just a personal achievement but a collective investment in the state’s future. By supporting students today, the government hopes to build a skilled workforce that can drive long-term development and place Jharkhand among India’s more advanced states.
