  • Courses focus on job-ready skills in Data Science & AI, AI-ML, Software Engineering with AI, and Prompt Engineering
  • Programme blends academic rigour with hands-on learning, offering IIT Roorkee certification and optional campus immersion

The Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee (IIT Roorkee) has taken a significant step to strengthen digital and AI skill development in India by partnering with Masai to launch a suite of online certification programmes through its Electronics & ICT Academy (E&ICT Academy). The collaboration is aimed at addressing the increasing demand for professionals equipped with industry-relevant expertise in emerging AI-driven and digital technology domains.

The programmes, delivered through IIT Roorkee’s E&ICT Academy, are designed to provide application-oriented training in areas such as Data Science and Artificial Intelligence (DS-AI), Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (AI-ML), Software Engineering with AI, and Prompt Engineering. According to the institute, the initiative is structured to equip learners with practical, job-ready skills that align with evolving workforce requirements, emphasising hands-on application of technologies in real-world contexts.

“With the rapid expansion of India’s digital ecosystem, organisations are looking for professionals who can not only understand programming concepts and AI tools but also apply them responsibly to solve practical problems,” said Prof. Sanjeev Manhas, Chief Investigator, E&ICT Academy, IIT Roorkee. “Through these programmes, the E&ICT Academy aims to strengthen the academic–industry interface, enabling learners to gain both conceptual understanding and practical experience in emerging technology domains”.

The courses are designed for a broad audience, including entry-level learners, working professionals, and individuals from non-technical backgrounds. IIT Roorkee said the programmes combine live instructional sessions with hands-on exercises, culminating in capstone projects that allow participants to build a portfolio demonstrating their ability to apply AI and digital solutions to real-world business challenges.

Through the E&ICT Academy, IIT Roorkee continues to deliver industry-aligned programmes that combine academic rigour with practical application, supporting the development of job-ready talent in alignment with India’s national digital and innovation priorities”.

Prateek Shukla, CEO and Co-Founder of Masai, said the partnership with IIT Roorkee enables learners to gain programmes that balance academic depth with hands-on learning. “Our objective is to help learners build meaningful portfolios that demonstrate their skills and enhance employability in an AI-driven job market”, he added.

Participants who complete the courses and successfully pass assessments will receive a certificate from the E&ICT Academy, IIT Roorkee, validating their skills and competencies. Beyond the online modules, learners also have the option to attend a two- to three-day campus immersion programme at IIT Roorkee, which includes project presentations, certificate distribution, and a detailed grade sheet.

The collaboration represents a step forward in creating a workforce ready to meet the demands of India’s rapidly evolving digital and AI landscape, reflecting IIT Roorkee’s commitment to blending academic excellence with industry relevance. By combining rigorous instruction, practical learning, and real-world applications, the programme aims to equip the next generation of professionals with the expertise required to thrive in high-demand technology roles.
