IIT Madras, in collaboration with MeitY and RISC-V International, will host the third edition of the Digital India RISC-V Symposium 2026 on August 1-2 in Chennai. The event will focus on strengthening India’s semiconductor ecosystem and advancing indigenous chip design capabilities.
The Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras), in partnership with the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India, and RISC-V International, will host the third edition of the Digital India RISC-V (DIR-V) Symposium 2026.
The two-day event will be held on August 1-2, 2026, at the IIT Madras Research Park in Chennai. The symposium will bring together policymakers, global technology experts, researchers, startups, industry leaders, investors, faculty members, and students to discuss the future of India’s semiconductor ecosystem.
The theme for this year’s symposium is ‘Empowering Bharat’s Semiconductor Future’, focusing on collaboration and innovation in semiconductor technologies, processor design, and related areas.
RISC-V International is a nonprofit organization that supports the open-standard RISC-V Instruction Set Architecture (ISA), which enables the development of customized processors for various applications. The technology has gained importance globally as countries and companies work toward building secure and flexible semiconductor solutions.
The symposium aims to create a platform where stakeholders from government, academia, and industry can collaborate on developing secure, intelligent, and globally competitive semiconductor technologies designed in India.

The event will also feature live technology demonstrations, startup exhibitions, and networking opportunities with organizations working in processor design, semiconductor technologies, embedded systems, artificial intelligence hardware, and cybersecurity.

India has been focusing on developing a strong semiconductor ecosystem by supporting chip design, manufacturing, research, and innovation.
