The Maharashtra government has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Cambridge University Press & Assessment to launch a digital climate education program for Class 8 and 9 students in government schools. The initiative, called the Cambridge Climate Quest, is expected to reach up to 2 lakh students across the state.
The MoU was signed by SCERT Director Dr. Hemant Wasekar and Arun Rajamani, Managing Director for South Asia at Cambridge University Press & Assessment. The Climate Quest e-learning program will provide students with international knowledge on climate change, renewable energy, and responsible consumption, while also encouraging critical thinking on environmental challenges. Students who excel will receive a joint certificate from both Cambridge University and the Maharashtra government.

Cabinet ministers Dadaji Bhuse and Pankaja Munde, along with other officials, emphasized the importance of climate education and the need for students to understand their role in addressing global environmental issues. The program will be available in both English and Marathi, ensuring greater accessibility.
The government also plans to extend the program to other grade levels and integrate environmental conservation activities within schools.
