In a major boost to climate-focused higher education in India, Indian Institute of Technology Indore has partnered with the Mehta Family Foundation to launch a cutting-edge undergraduate program in Environmental Economics and Sustainable Engineering (EESE) starting July 2026. Designed as a future-ready course, the program blends climate science, environmental economics, and engineering into a single interdisciplinary track, aiming to prepare students for the fast-growing green economy.
The EESE program at IIT Indore will admit only 30 students through JEE Advanced, making it one of the most selective new-age engineering offerings in the country. The curriculum is structured around three core pillars: environmental economics and policy, energy systems with a focus on battery technology, and water and climate systems.
Alongside technical learning, students will dive deep into systems modelling, data-driven decision-making, and real-time environmental monitoring, while also gaining hands-on exposure through internships in renewable energy, manufacturing, infrastructure, and sustainability sectors.

The institute highlighted that graduates of Environmental Economics and Sustainable Engineering (EESE) will be well-positioned for careers in climate technology, ESG strategy, green finance, sustainable infrastructure, and policy advisory roles. IIT Indore Director Dr Suhas Joshi emphasized that the program is designed to bridge science and policy, calling it a transformative step toward building climate-ready professionals for India’s future.
On the examination front, the National Testing Agency (NTA) has released the JEE Main 2026 Session 2 answer key for Paper 1 (BE/BTech), opening the objection window for candidates. Aspirants of JEE Main 2026 can now log in to the official portal to review their responses and raise challenges. The exam was conducted between April 2 and April 8 across 566 centres in India and 14 international cities, with over 11.23 lakh candidates appearing in the computer-based test.
