- IIT Gandhinagar introduces MDes and MTech in Maritime Engineering
- Focus on design thinking, systems approach, and industry skills
- Programs include projects, research, and industry exposure
The Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar will launch two new postgraduate programmes for 2026-27, a Master of Design (MDes) and a Master of Technology (MTech) in Maritime Engineering.
The MDes programme builds on the institute’s Design and Innovation Centre and blends design thinking with engineering and social sciences. It aims to help students develop strong problem-solving and systems thinking skills.
The MTech in Maritime Engineering focuses on port and ocean infrastructure, logistics, and regulatory systems. The course addresses the growing need for specialized maritime education, especially in Gujarat, where port activity is significant.
The institute is also expanding its focus on emerging fields such as artificial intelligence, semiconductors, healthcare technologies, and sustainability. It continues to build strong academic partnerships with leading institutions across India.
IIT Gandhinagar offers dual-degree programmes in collaboration with institutions like the Indian Institute of Science, Sardar Vallabhbhai National Institute of Technology Surat, National Institute of Technology Agartala, and the Indian Space Research Organisation Space Applications Centre.
