CBSE Schools Conduct Inclusive Education Session Today
CBSE Schools Conduct Inclusive Education Session Today

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is conducting a 30-minute sensitisation and orientation module on Inclusive Education for Children with Special Needs (CwSN) across its affiliated schools today, October 7, 2026. The initiative is aimed at helping school staff better understand the needs and challenges of children with special needs while encouraging more respectful, empathetic and inclusive practices within schools.

The directive was issued by the CBSE Training Unit through Circular No. TRG-20/2026, dated October 5, 2026, following directions from the Department of School Education and Literacy (DoSEL), Ministry of Education. CBSE has asked affiliated schools to facilitate the screening and ensure maximum participation among their staff members.

Module Covers Inclusive Education for CwSN

The 30-minute video module is intended to build greater sensitivity, empathy and an inclusive attitude among people working in schools. It focuses on helping staff understand the requirements and challenges faced by Children with Special Needs and encouraging appropriate practices in the school environment.

CBSE has extended the programme beyond teachers and school heads. The screening includes both teaching and non-teaching personnel, including aayahs, drivers, clerical staff, receptionists, deans, wardens, heads of schools and other support personnel. This wider participation recognises that students interact with different members of the school community throughout their daily routines.

Schools have been asked to organise the screening without disrupting essential academic and administrative activities. The module is available through the PRASHAST portal, under the Video Tutorial option accessed through the Headmaster Login. CBSE has also said that data on the number of schools viewing the module will be visible at the national level.

Initiative Linked to PRASHAST Screening

The sensitisation programme forms part of the PRASHAST Screening Initiative being undertaken during the current academic year. The broader initiative seeks to screen students for probable disabilities and facilitate timely intervention.

CBSE has highlighted staff awareness as an important component of this effort. By improving understanding among school personnel, the Board aims to support an environment where students with special needs can receive appropriate assistance and participate more effectively in school activities.

“Empowering children with special needs through career guidance and skilling is key to an inclusive, equitable and knowledge-driven society.” -  Sanjay Kumar, Secretary, Department of School Education and Literacy, Ministry of Education

CBSE’s October 7 screening adds a school-level sensitisation component to this wider focus on inclusion. By involving teaching, administrative and support personnel together, the initiative seeks to strengthen awareness across the entire school environment.

The programme reflects CBSE’s continuing emphasis on creating more inclusive, accessible and supportive schools, where Children with Special Needs can learn and participate with greater understanding and dignity.
