The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has started the online submission of the List of Candidates (LOC) for the Class 10 and Class 12 Board Examinations 2027. The process opened on September 24, 2026, and schools can submit candidate details through the CBSE portal. The regular submission deadline is October 21, 2026.
The LOC is an important pre-examination process because it records the students who will appear for the board examinations. CBSE has made it clear that schools must submit the details of eligible students correctly and within the prescribed timeline. For Class 10, the current LOC submission relates to the first Board Examination. The LOC for the second Class 10 examination will be submitted separately after the first examination.
Student Details Required
Schools have been asked to keep accurate and updated information ready before submitting the LOC. The details include:
1. Full name
2. Date of birth
3. Gender
4. Category
5. Parents' or guardians' names
6. Subjects chosen
7. Student's photograph
8. Student's signature
CBSE has particularly asked schools to check the spelling of student and parent names and ensure that subjects are entered according to the prescribed scheme of studies.
CBSE Warns Schools About Data Errors
The LOC process comes after CBSE raised concerns about incorrect student information submitted by schools during earlier examination cycles. The Board said errors in subject codes, subjects and student or parent details have resulted in correction requests and caused delays and operational difficulties.
A senior CBSE official said that the Board had begun collecting the list of candidates for the next year's examinations but had noticed that some schools were not submitting correct details.
“It is important that all candidate details are thoroughly checked for accuracy before submission, as errors may lead to complications later in the examination process,” — CBSE
The Board has therefore asked schools to verify all information before completing the LOC submission. It has also stressed the need for coordination and advance planning as preparations for the 2027 examinations continue.
Only students whose names are properly submitted through the online LOC process will be eligible to appear for the corresponding board examinations. Schools are consequently responsible for ensuring that no eligible student is left out and that the information submitted matches their official school records.
For Class 12 students, schools must also ensure that candidates meet the applicable eligibility requirements. The Board has advised schools to carefully verify the student's academic and examination information before submitting the final data.
With the LOC window now open, schools across the CBSE network will begin completing the registration formalities for the 2027 Class 10 and Class 12 Board Examinations. Students and parents should also check the information maintained by their schools and report any errors promptly so corrections can be addressed during the permitted process.
