Canadian University Signs Three MoUs During India Outreach

Cape Breton University (CBU) has expanded its international footprint in India higher education collaboration through a multi-city academic outreach that resulted in the signing of three significant memoranda of understanding (MoUs). Led by CBU President and Vice-Chancellor David C. Dingwall, the delegation visited New Delhi, Gurugram, Noida, Vadodara, and Ahmedabad between April 27 and May 2, marking one of the university’s most comprehensive engagement missions in the country to date.

During the visit to New Delhi, Dingwall met with Delhi Education Minister Ashish Sood, where discussions centered on strengthening cooperation in artificial intelligence (AI), community development, and startup ecosystems, reflecting a shared interest in preparing students for rapidly evolving global industries. The dialogue underscored the growing importance of cross-border academic partnerships in driving innovation and entrepreneurship.

A key milestone of the visit was the signing of a five-year MoU between Cape Breton University (CBU) and BML Munjal University’s School of Engineering and Technology. This agreement aims to promote student and faculty exchange programs, encourage joint research initiatives, and support the co-creation of international academic conferences that bring together scholars from both countries.

In another major development, CBU entered into a partnership with the National Education Forum (NEF), designating it as the university’s official convening partner in India. This collaboration is expected to facilitate structured engagement with central and state governments as well as leading academic institutions, strengthening policy-level and institutional academic ties.

Additionally, the university formalized a partnership with Lok Jagruti Kendra University in Gujarat, while also engaging in exploratory discussions with Parul University and Navrachana University to broaden cooperation and build a regional academic network focused on student mobility, global education pathways, and jointly developed academic programs.

This initiative highlights Canada-India education partnerships, reinforcing CBU’s commitment to expanding global learning opportunities and fostering long-term institutional collaboration.
