Preschools in India have evolved significantly over the past decade, shifting from basic early education setups to dynamic, research-driven learning environments. Today’s parents seek institutions that go beyond academics, focusing on emotional security, creativity, and holistic development. In cities like Mumbai, this transformation is especially evident, with preschools integrating global methodologies and modern infrastructure.

Among these, Creative Kids Early Years Centre stands out for its deeply personal and purpose-driven foundation. Founded by a doctor-turned-educator inspired by her own motherhood journey, the centre emerged from a passion for child development. What began as small learning programs and after-school activities, supported by global collaborations, gradually grew into a full-fledged preschool rooted in care, curiosity, and innovation.

Can you walk us through the programs offered and what makes them unique?

Creative Kids Centre offers a thoughtfully structured range of programs, including Parent-Toddler sessions, Playschool, Nursery, and Lower KG. The Parent-Toddler program, one of the first of its kind in Mumbai, remains a cornerstone of its approach.

The curriculum blends globally recognized, research based methodologies from Canada and the US with evolving practices. Programs like Preschool STEAM encourage problem-solving and critical thinking, while activities such as Loose Parts play foster imagination and creativity.

Life skill development is equally emphasized through “Mega Skills,” which nurture qualities like patience, focus, and kindness. What makes the centre stand out is its commitment to continuous innovation and its ability to adapt global best practices into a nurturing, child friendly environment.

What challenges did you face in establishing and growing the preschool, and how were they overcome?

One of the initial challenges was introducing Early Learning Programs for very young children, especially the parent-toddler initiative for infants as young as eight months. At the time, many parents were unsure about the value of structured learning at such an early age.

However, as the program demonstrated visible developmental benefits - enhanced observation, sensory engagement, and early social skills - parental trust gradually grew. Another challenge was accessing global resources and expertise, which was initially limited.

Over time, advancements in technology have made it easier to connect with international educators and incorporate high-quality resources. Consistency in quality has been maintained through continuous learning, adaptation, and a strong commitment to creating a caring, secure environment.
How do you ensure teachers provide both quality education and emotional security?

At Creative Kids Centre, the emotional connection between teachers and children is considered more important and holds more merit than qualifications alone. The hiring process focuses on how naturally educators engage with children and whether they create a sense of warmth and trust.

Once selected, teachers undergo a structured training process that can take up to a year to fully align with the school’s unique methodology. Continuous observation, mentoring, and hands-on learning ensure that educators are equipped to provide individualized attention. This approach ensures that children feel safe, valued, and understood, laying the foundation for both emotional wellbeing and effective learning.

How does the school balance modern infrastructure with meaningful early learning experiences?

The learning environment at Creative Kids Centre is carefully designed to stimulate curiosity and exploration. Classrooms feature interactive elements such as light boards, sensory walls, and dedicated areas for block play and creative activities. Smart boards are introduced for older children to familiarize them with technology in a fun and engaging way.

However, the school consciously avoids over-reliance on technology. Equal, if not greater, importance is given to nature-based learning, storytelling, music, and imaginative play. Outdoor activities, field visits, and hands-on experiences are integral to the curriculum.

This balanced approach ensures children develop both modern skills and a deep connection with the world around them.

Could you share a success story or impact that reflects your philosophy?

One of the most powerful reflections of the school’s impact was when children as young as two-and-a-half confidently performed on stage at the Royal Opera House. Their ability to sing, dance, and engage with a large audience highlighted the confidence and comfort nurtured within the school.

Beyond such moments, the everyday success lies in the children’s enthusiasm - many look forward to coming to school even during holidays. The centre has also been consistently ranked among Mumbai’s top preschools, including recognition among the top 10 in 2026.

Importantly, leading schools acknowledge that students from Creative Kids Centre transition smoothly, displaying strong foundational skills, curiosity, and confidence.

What are your future plans for Creative Kids Centre?

The future vision focuses on strengthening the bond between parents and children. Recognizing that modern lifestyles often limit quality interaction time, the centre aims to expand its parent-child programs.

Planned initiatives include storytelling sessions, art and messy play, music, dance, and movement-based activities designed for shared participation. There is also an intent to create dedicated spaces that encourage these interactions.

At its core, Creative Kids Centre aspires to remain a ’school with a heart’, a space where children feel safe, loved, and inspired. By nurturing not just learners but kind and confident individuals, the institution continues to shape meaningful early childhood experiences that last a lifetime.
